We're spending time with this lovely Sacred Heart cope. Kristina has been fixing the couching of the gold thread and restoring numerous areas where chain stitching of the deep red silk thread had completely disappeared due to age. The little bits that are still hanging on here and there will dissolve if you rub them between your fingers. We found the little needle marks like bird tracks in snow to see where to put them back, and a delicious spool of silk thread is being put to good use. I wish I had taken more pictures before she started so you could see how much her restoration work has revitalized this really neat cope. Putting Jesus back together will be fun. I particularly like this version of passion flowers too.
